Taxi Please...Non-Smoking or Smoking?

Okay, so what is the deal with taxi drivers and their smoking? I mean..I think it is so disgusting when I am in the cab and I cant even breath. All I smell is the heavy duty disgusting cigarette stench all in the cab. I think its funny how the cab drivers all line up in front of the airport, just waiting for a flight to come in, and just like car sales men, they are hawks ready to hunt for a customer. However, when we do finally "CHOOSE" them as our driver, we are disappointed when we get into the cab. I have really no choice, how do I know which ones smoke or not? well they all seem to smoke, and I guess it comes down to which one smells less than others...? Still, you can not tell this by just looking at the driver and their cab from the outside..so how do you choose? You dont, you just go with whatever driver...

Just like you choose your hotel room,(non-smoking or smoking) I wish the same for choosing cabs...

well I just dont think its right when you are in someone's cab, and THEY want YOU to pay THEM, however you have to suffer this horrible smelly ride...

oh well,

But why do cab drivers all smoke??

October is looking good so far...

As I always say, yes its been a long time since my last blog. I simply forget and just got to be in a better habit of updating. Maybe I can have my blog page added as a I phone app, is that possible? If so, please let me know how! :)

Yes, the last two months since my bday in August have been HELL!! yes, sorry, but they have. With crap going down at my current job, my grandma having severe pain, people being difficult, and etc..

However, I tried to remain positive and calm during these times. The prayers, and patience both paid off!

October started with a phone interview, which now lead to a in person interveiw for a new job opportunity! yes, so hopefully by next month will have a new job! yay!

My Grandma had surgery (hip replacment) on October 12th, and it was successful!! yay! She is currently in rehab center and doing well. Just keep praying that this keeps up and she recovers fully soon! I love her so much!

So, all in all October is looking up well, and hope it keeps going as it is. I am happy and hopeful for new opportunites.

Life is short, and as this sounds cliche, we should not take it for granted. even though life can bring us down, there are others who have it worse than we do. Should be happy. As my grandma says " Know your health and how important it is!".

Thanks all!

Top Ten Airport tips

Hey all,

Since I travel a bit for work I have learned some things when traveling.

1. Print boarding pass at home
2. Pack light- carry on luggage plus laptop, or other personal
3. Take a bunch of those plastic zip-lock bags from the airport for the 3 oz or less items (those are expensive to buy at the store and hard to find the size!) Hey they made the rules, doesnt maean I need to pay for them! haha
4. Always bring something to do on the plane, (book, movie, iphone games, DS, etc) I usually read a book or play scrabble on my i-phone.
5. Bring disposable hand wipes (you never know when the bathroom has no SOAP!it has happend to me!) Also I use it to wipe down the seat and table) I know totally MONK right now, but I dont want to get sick!
6. Know ahead of time the airports you have connections to (Denver is huge, so make sure always have at least 1.5 hour layover, however Love Field, Dallas, is small, so an hour layover is plenty of time)
7.Carry snacks, food, gum, Tums, Imodium, tylenol, and Emergen-C.
8.Carry cash and credit card ( Some airlines except ONLY credit card and no cash)
9. Wear your most comfortable clothes! (always bring a jacket, sweater as it can get really COLD!)
10. Have fun, relax, and enjoy the trip!

Didnt eat for 8 hours when traveling!!!!

Hello all,

yes, yes, I know, I have not blogged in like a month...so bad of me.. I forget!

Couple weeks ago I had a crazy travel schedule. Here it goes:
Sunday-Travel to Colorado Springs, Monday night- travel to Oklahoma City- Tuesday, work in OK, Tuesday night travel to Little Rock AR, Wednesday, work in Little Rock, AR,Wednesday night, travel to OC, CA. whew!!! yes it was crazy. to top this off, I had a wedding to work that Saturday, so rehersal on Friday night..wow!!! I was SO TIRED!!

So I always carry snacks with me just in case I do not have time to eat at the airport. Well, when leaving Little Rock, AR, our flight was delayed like 2 hours, and so when we landed in Denver, CO, I had 10 minutes to get to my gate. If you have been at Denver Airport, you will know its pretty big. My arrival gate was B90, and my next gate for departure was B20!!! So as soon as I got off the plane, I ran with my life...OMG, thank goodness for those people movers....
As I was running, I kept looking at the gate numbers, then down to my watch, then up to the gate numbers, and then the watch...over and over again.
Until finally I reached my gate, just as they were calling my Zone#!! I was so hungry as I had planned to get dinner at the airport, but no sir!
As i got on the plane, I didnt have time to get my snacks from my luggage or purse, and during the flight, could not get to my bag (with the limited upper storage space, my bag was stored not close by). So all I had was a glass of OJ. It had been 8 hours I had not ate anything, and it sucked! They did offer snacks for $3.00, but I could not evn get to my purse, which currently was in my luggage, which currently was not close to me. ARGH!!

lesson learned===always keep snacks and money close to you while flying!!

yay!!!

Is having a Can of Coke better for you than a Smoothie?

Yes, not all smoothies are healthy..actaully all the ones sold at Jamba Juice, Juice it up, Juice Stop, etc..not so much. You think hey I am going to be healthy today and have a smoothie for breakfast. You are so excited about this as you are trying to start a be a new health freak. (hey this was me years back...).

Well what you dont know is how UNHEALTHY, they are for you. Let me tell you why:

Here are some nutrition facts for some of the smoothies they serve:

Smoothie - Razzmatazz (Jamba Juice)
Serving Size: 24 oz / 710ml; Calories: 440, Total Fat: 2g, Carbs: 102g, Protein: 3g

Strawberry Nirvana (Jamba Juice)
Serving Size: 16 oz.; Calories: 150, Total Fat: 0g, Carbs: 34g, Protein: 6g

Pomegranate Paradise (Jamba Juice)
Serving Size: (16 ounce); Calories: 260, Total Fat: 0.5g, Carbs: 64g, Protein: 2g

hmm..ok, so for fun lets compare to coke:

Coke 20oz (Coca-Cola)
Serving Size: 20 oz; Calories: 240, Total Fat: 0g, Carbs: 65g, Protein: 0g

Coca Cola Classic 12oz Can (Coca-Cola)
Serving Size: 1 can (12 oz); Calories: 140, Total Fat: 0g, Carbs: 39g, Protein: 0g

So you can have a 24 oz smmoothie, which is 440 calories, or you can have a 20 oz coke for only 240 calories..wow! Coke has less calories than the 16 oz and the 24 oz smoothie..

WHOA!

Well, I used to drink smoothies from the store, thinking I was being healthy and really proud of myself. I mean you have fruit, some yogurt, and ..oh..yeah..they dump SUGAR...oh maybe not so healthy..oppps...

So years later, I was recommended the book, Eat for your Health (which I blogged about, and found a really easy smoothie recipe. So everyday we make this for breakfast and it is yummy!!! The recipe is below, I dare you to try it!!!

So the other day we were out, and we decided lets go in and get a Smoothie, what the heck. its one day, it wont kill us right?

Well, as soon as I took one sip of the smoothie, it was like I was drinking sugar!! I am not kidding!! It was so sweet, that I could not finish it. I could not belive it! I used to LOVE these smoothies!! I just could not drink it like I used to...WOW!!!

Smoothie recipe:

1 cup of Pomegrante Juice
1/2 cup of soy or almound milk
1/2 cup of frozen strawberries
1/2 cup Frozen Blueberries
1/2 cup of frozen peaches
1 banana
1 tablespoon of flax seeds

Blend all ingredients in a high powered blender

Calories 225 Protein 4.9 g, Carbohydrate 47.7g Fat 3.2 G, Sodium 40.8 G

Oh and the best part is that you can save money!! Making it at home is saving money vs 3.50-4.00 per smoothie.

Oh and the best par

New I phone--pretty cool

As you may know, Apple has recently come out with a new I-Phone. It is the 3GS. The last Iphone was the 3G. So I had the first generation Iphone and when the 3G came out, waited as apple always comes out with a better version. So in order to avoid long lines and time, I decided to pre-order. So on June 19, 2009 (release date), my husband and I got up early and headed to the AT&T Store. The store opened at 7 am, and we got there at 6:45am. There was a line of about 30 people, and seeems some were there pretty early as they had their beach chairs. oh boy! Well I was very happy as I had pre-ordered so they gave me blue sheet of paper (yes very offical), that indicated that I can go ahead of others in line. So we waited for only 15-20 minutes. Got in, got the phone and was out. I was VERY excited about my new phone. It was a great way to start my weekend!! Here is a link to the new phone and its awesome new features! http://www.apple.com/iphone/guidedtour/#medium

What I am most excited about is the Video feature, Voice Control, and the compass. Pretty cool.

If you are currently a AT&T customer, you may upgrade to the new Iphone with another 2 year contract. I belive that even if you are not due for an upgrade you can still do so until July. Dont take my word for it, but thats what I think. I was not due for an upgrade until October 2009, and was able to do so. Also, if you just currently bought the 3G since you were not told a new one was coming out, you can exchange it for the 3GS. (Only if you bought it within the last 2 weeks).

For all you BlackBerry users, get an IPhone!! they have a better operating system, look cool, and stuff hehe...But I know that some of you really love your blackberries, and thats cool too..
